I had this same problem before, it ended up being that even though on paper my computer met the games minimum requirements.
Removed the Steam overlay, lowered some of the graphics options.
The load screens take a long time as well, so it's now more of a chore than fun. I am now getting crashes during combat and then return to a dead character. It's crashing much more than in the past. Do you get a black screen before it crashes or does it just immediately crash? Does it crash after the Character Creation Screen? I am ready to give up. If there is an error code, please tell us what it is. Try running the game from the launcher directly without using Steam to launch. Anyone know what might be causing this?
